A teenager was arrested for animal cruelty after he was seen in a ‘distubring’ video riding an ‘exhausted’ young mule deer, police say.

Jacob Belcher, 18, has been charged with wildlife harassment and animal abuse after Oregon State Police said the animal’s terrified grunts could be heard as it tried to escape Belcher in the video.

According to state police: ‘The video displayed what appeared to be a young adult male climbing onto, and eventually riding on the back of a live and exhausted mule deer buck while it was contained within a fenced enclosure.’

‘Throughout the video, the mule deer buck can be heard grunting and/or bleating and after escaping the rider, the buck jumped into a linked fence, multiple times, attempting to escape the enclosure.’

Authorities initially began investigating the video after it was sent to the Oregon State Fish and Wildlife Troopers on Friday.

Police said the deer got trapped in a fenced feeding area before Belcher jumped on its back and began riding it.

The deer was eventually freed from the enclosure, although police said they do not know where it is now or what its condition is.

Belcher was arrested Friday at a rural ranch in Harney County, Oregon.

The person who filmed the video was also interviewed, and may be charged with aiding in a wildlife offense, according to state police.
